About CVD
Clear Visual Development is a patented method of colouring hair that has stirred up the hairdressing industry.
CVD replaces foil technology giving full control of the colour development.
This groundbreaking method of highlighting and colouring hair is a transparent sheath made of recyclable, material which is easy to use and requires no cutting or folding. The product can be recycled many times over decreasing your carbon footprint.
The disposable transparent strips aid in smoother colour application, ventilated oxidation and easy observation of colour development. No more opening and closing foils.
How To CVD
Section and seperate the hair according to the desired result and application technique. Place the CVD under the selected hair using either a highlight board or freehand.
Apply the colour as per usual over the hair. The product will allow the hair to adhere to the sheet...then just flip the CVD matching up the corners creating a loop.
For extra length overlap the edges of the CVD laying it flat on top of each other.
A word about the developer...
Clear Visual Development is a colour application methodology invented by Stylist Brenda Smith, born out of many years of hairdressing, seeking simpler and more efficient ways of applying hair color.
It is a simple application, providing visual observation of colour development at all times, significantly improving oxidation of colour development, and a gentle authentically new experience for the client.
The concept and the development started in 2012. Brenda researched and tested numerous materials untill she found what ultimately became felxible, disposable and recylable CVD's.
Frequently Ask Questions
Can I reuse my CVD's?
Yes you can absolutely re-use if you choose to do so.
Simply wash, dry well, and re-use.
Can I use creative colour techniques?
Yes! CVD's replace traditional foils. Creative colour techniques can used as per usual.
Can I fold the CVD?
The material is thin enough to fold if you choose to do so.
We recommend flipping the CVD joining the ends as you would a traditional foil however, leave the "fold" as a loop. This avoid a bend being created in the hair.
Alternatively lay the hair between two CVD's.
What about the environment?
Clear Visuals (CVD's) are made from a recylable material which means hair colour has now become environmentally friendly.
Can I get extended length CVD's'?
CVD's come in one standard length. However, the material "sticks" easily to itself when laying the pieces over each other for extended length. To further secure the extension clamp the overlap with our clip (or similar).
Do I need to use a foil board?
This is personal choice. Each hair dresser uses techniques that are comfortable to them.
